哥斯拉大战机械哥斯拉
1999年，某个东西被卡车运出了馆山市。几天后，哥斯拉登陆了馆山，特生自卫队出动与之展开了苦战。在战斗中，自卫队员家城茜（釈由美子 饰）意外害死了战友叶山二尉（森末慎二 饰），自己却侥幸活了下来，并被派去了资料科。 另一方面，日本政府在柘植真智子首相（水野久美 饰）的指挥下，召集了汤原德光（宅麻伸 饰）等科学家开始研究对付哥斯拉的G兵器。他们以在馆山冲挖掘出来的初代哥斯拉骨骼为基础，用了四年制成了机械哥斯拉——3式机龙。柘植首相辞职，由科学技术厅长官五十岚隼人（中尾彬 饰）就任新首相。同时，茜被派去了机龙队，担任机龙的操作员。 就在准备机龙测试机动时，哥斯拉又在东京湾出现了。机龙赶赴现场与哥斯拉对战，却因哥斯拉的吼声唤醒了体内的野兽灵魂，突然暴走，在城市中造成了大破坏。 为了改良机龙，汤原改变了机龙DNA计算机的碱构造，使机龙不会再受哥斯拉叫声的干扰。但由于对再次暴走的担忧，五十岚迟迟不允许出动机龙。 哥斯拉再度出现在东京湾，一路无视特生自卫队的攻击来到了品川，令城市变成了一片火海。面对如此情景，五十岚终于同意让机龙出动。 为了打败哥斯拉，机龙被送到了品川。茜也抱着必死的觉悟。机龙和茜的战斗就这样开始了。
